Stop Junk Food Eating:

Are you a junk food junkie? Do you love anything sweat or salty like cookies and cakes. Well who doesn't, but as we all know, junk foods can really pack on the pounds. Junk food eaters find themselves eating throughout the day, whether you are at your desk, driving the kids to school, doing errands, ect. It is mindless eating. Most of the time we don't even realize we are eating or how often we are eating.

 

Tips to Stop Junk for Eating, so we can Lose Inches from the Waist?
 

1. Swap that junk food for a healthy satisfying snack; this will help to elevate junk food cravings.

2. Repeat What You Eat; Have (1) meal a day that is the same. For example; for breakfast have the following option:

  • (1) Hard Boiled Egg.
  • (1) Whole Wheat English Muffin.
  • 1/2 tps. Pepper

Dr Oz: Cinnamon Rolls Recipe.

Dough Ingredients:

Dr Oz tasted a delicious Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls Recipe.

24 ounces all-purpose flour (5 cups)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 tsp salt

3/4 tsp rapid-rise yeast

1/8 tsp baking soda

2 eggs

1 cup water

1 tbsp buttermilk

5 tbsp butter spread

Notice that none of these ingredients are reduced fat. (Surprisingly).

 

Filling Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter spread, softened

1 cup dark brown sugar, packed

4 tsp Makara (Indonesian Korintje) cinnamon

2 tsp xantham gum (or 1 tablespoon cornstarch)

 

Frosting Ingredients:

1/4 cup butter spread

6 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese, cold

1/8 tsp salt

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 drops lemon extract

1 cup powdered sugar

 

Cinnamon Roll Clone Directions:

1.  Mix together all of the dry dough ingredients (the salt, yeast, baking soda, flour and sugar).

2.  In another bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the buttermilk and water.

3.  Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.

4.  Add in the butter spread and mix with a paddle until everything is well combined.

5.  Use the kneading hook attachment on your mixer to knead our the dough for about 15 minutes.  You could technically do this by hand as well, but who has the patience for that? At least it would build up your arm muscles though and burn some calories to make room for the cinnamon rolls!

6.  Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it sit in your fridge for 5-6 hours so that it doubles in size.

7.  Using your hands and a rolling pin, make the dough into a rectangle that is about 20? by 22? in size.

8.  Place 1/2 cup of the butter spread over the rectangular shaped dough, leaving 1? of dough at the bottom without anything on it.

9.  Mix together the filling by combining the cinnamon, cornstarch, and brown sugar.  Place the filling on top of the dough, again leaving 1? of dough at the bottom with nothing on it.

10.  Use your rolling pin to flatten out the filling on top of the dough.

11.  Use your hands to tightly roll the dough, starting at the top, and stretching as you work your way down.  You should get in about 5 rotations before you reach the bottom of the dough.

12.  Before you roll up the entire cinnamon roll dough, use a pastry brush to put a little bit of water on the 1? portion of dough at the bottom that you left empty.

13.  Use a knife to cut the dough in half and then to cut 5 cinnamon rolls from each half, so you are left with a total of 10 cinnamon rolls.

14.  Put 6 cinnamon rolls in a 9×13 baking dish that is covered with parchment paper.  Then repeat, but place the 4 remaining rolls in a 9×9 dish (also covered with parchment paper).

15.  Put the cinnamon rolls into your oven with a separate bowl of boiling water.  They should grow in size until they touch one another in about 1 hour.

16.  Preheat your oven to 350 degrees (or 325 if you have a convection oven), and bake the rolls for 16-20 minutes or until they are a golden brown color.  If you have a food thermometer, you can also check that the inside of the rolls are between 170 degrees and 175 degrees.  Also, don’t forget to turn your baking dishes around 180 degrees in the middle.

17. As the dough bakes, you should start making the cinnamon roll frosting.  Mix together the  cream cheese, butter spread, vanilla extract, salt and lemon extract until it is a light consistency.  Slowly add the powdered sugar until it is combined and then mix it on high for 30 seconds.

18.  As soon as the rolls are done baking, ice them with the frosting.

Doctor Oz passed around the finished product to several hungry audience members. (This is one time I would’ve loved to sit in the front row!)

This is Dr. Dow’s Pizza Recipe from his treat food addition diet. You may have seen him on the Dr. Oz show. He created a diet plan to help cure food addiction. Dr. Dows Pizza Recipe (treat food addiction diet): Enjoy!

 

Ingredients

1 whole wheat tortilla

1/2 can of strained diced tomatoes

2 to 3 handfulls of low-fat goat cheese crumbles

2 chopped artichokes (or your favorite booster vegetable)

1 onion, sliced and caramelized

Oregano, garlic, basil and rosemary to taste

 

Directions

Cut up your favorite booster vegetables; in this case, slice artichokes and caramelized onions. Spread out the diced tomatoes and low-fat cheese crumbles on the whole wheat tortilla. Then add the artichoke and caramelized onion. Finally, sprinkle the pizza with rosemary, oregano, garlic and basil to taste. Cook in the oven for around 15 minutes at 350° F until the cheese is melted to your desired consistency.

Are you Pouring on the Pounds?

There are 39.5 grams of sugar in a 12oz can of Coke and 39.5 grams of sugar is equivalent to 20 cubes of sugar. Drinking one coke a day for a year results in the consumption of 32 pounds of sugar intake.

Just think how many calories you could cut by eliminating soda or sugary drinks.

There was a woman on his show who drinks 12-13 cans of soda a day.  She said that she has gone 3 days without drinking soda to try and quit, but she gets massive headaches and mood swings.

She on average, drinks 53 gallons of soda a year which is 41 pounds of sugar.  Soda, quite honestly, is toxic to our bodies!

Doctor Oz’s 28 day challenge is to quit drinking soda and soft drinks, which I think is a great way to kick off the season!  Soda is making American’s sick and fat.  53 million Americans drink at least one soda a day, and we spent $70 Billion last year on soda.   Soda drinkers consume an extra 91,000 calories a year which accounts for a weight gain of 26 pounds per year.

Soda also increases your risk for Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease and Osteoporosis.  Diet sodas are not good either, because they can make you crave sugar even more.

Why is Soda Addictive?

 

1.  Caffeine – the caffeine found in soda makes you feel cravings for more of it.

2.  High Fructose Corn Syrup or Sugar – these sweeteners make you want to have more and more soda, which results in making you gain weight

I was completely shocked when Dr Oz showed that Dr Mike Roizen is also addicted to diet soda… in fact, Dr. Roizen “The Enforcer” drank 7 diet sodas in the video at the Cleveland Clinic that Dr Oz showed.

 

Dr Oz’s Weight Loss Challenge: Soda.

 

Week 1 – Sugar Free.

 

During the first week, you should exchange your usual sugary soda for diet soda.  This will help you to break one addiction.  You should also try to eat lots of fish, eggs and beans this week.

 

Week 2 – Caffeine Free.

 

Week 2 you should drink only caffeine free diet soda.  When you get headaches, take ibuprofen.  Also, eat vitamin b rich foods like spinach, chick peas and vitamin-enriched cereals.

 

Week 3 – Reduce Consumption by 50%.

 

Week 3 you should cut down on the amount of soda you drink so that you are only drinking half of what you used to drink.  The remaining 50% of the time, drink a glass of 80% seltzer water and 20% cranberry juice (or whatever juice you like).

 

Week 4 – Eliminate Soda.

 

Week 4 you should cut out all the soda altogether.  If you want, you can chew gum instead.  And with the money you save this week, around $10, you can buy yourself a little present (just not soda!).

Call it the sip that started a wave:  

 

Dr. Oz's humble blend of cucumbers, apples and leafy greens has ignited a trend.

 

What makes Dr. oz's signature sip such a breakthrough beverage?  

 

As America's healthy guru, Dr. oz himself cites the fact that it compensates for one of our top concerns that we are simply not getting sufficient nourishment form standard diets.  "We know we have to have at least five fistfuls of leafy green vegetables and fruit every day, so we make a morning green drink," he has said. "It only takes a minute to  make, and it's inexpensive."

Plus, there's ample evidence to suggest that even if we could eat five cups of leafy greens a day, we wouldn't get as many benefits as we do from juicing them.  The credit goes to the mechanical processes of blending and juicing that helps break apart plant-cell walls better than even the most persistent chewing could, which give green drinks an intestinal absorption edge that food from produce can't match.  "Breaking apart those plant cell walls has an effect much like throwing marbles at a chain link fence", "Their contents go through in a way that tennis balls just can't."

"I've never been thinner or in better shape," Lesley says. "It's awesome to think that when you're in your mid 40's and are premenopausal, you don't have to pack on the pounds you can actually do the opposite!"

Two Dr Oz Green Smoothie's Recipes to jump start your slimdown:

 

1. In blender, combine 2 cups spinach; 2 cups chopped cucumbers; 1 head celery; 1/2 or 1 tsp. gingerroot; 1 bunch parsley; 2 apples, chopped; juice of 1 lime and juice of 1/2 lemon.  Puree 30 second, or until smooth.  Makes 3 to 4 servings.

 

2. In blender, combine 3 to 4 cups chopped Swiss chard, spinach, romaine lettuce and/or collard greens; 1 cup each chopped kale and cilantro; 1 banana, frozen and sliced; 2 cups assorted frozen berries and 1 clove garlic, peeled.  Puree 30 seconds, or unit smooth.
