Drinking one coke a day for a year results in the consumption of 32 pounds of sugar intake.<\/p>\n<p>Just think how many calories you could cut by eliminating soda or sugary drinks.<\/p>\n<p>There was a woman on his show who drinks 12-13 cans of soda a day.\u00a0 She said that she has gone 3 days without drinking soda to try to quit, but she gets massive headaches and mood swings.<\/p>\n<p>She on average, drinks 53 gallons of soda a year which is 41 pounds of sugar.\u00a0 Soda, quite honestly, is toxic to our bodies!<\/p>\n<h2>Are you Pouring on the Pounds?<\/h2>\n<p>Doctor Oz\u2019s 28 day challenge is to quit drinking soda and soft drinks, which I think is a great way to kick off the season!\u00a0 Soda is making American\u2019s sick and fat.\u00a0 53 million Americans drink at least one soda a day, and we spent $70 Billion last year on soda. \u00a0 <strong><em>Soda drinkers consume an extra 91,000 calories a year which accounts for a weight gain of 26 pounds per year.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Soda also increases your risk for Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease and Osteoporosis.\u00a0 Diet sodas are not good either, because they can make you crave sugar even more.<\/p>\n<p>Are you convinced yet?\u00a0 Everyone should join Dr Oz\u2019s 28 Day National Challenge to quit drinking soda! Also Try <a href=\"http:\/\/shrinktheplanet-weightloss.com\/weightloss-diets\/2016\/04\/dr-oz-may-28-day-diet\/\">Dr Oz&#8217;s May 28 Day Diet<\/a> Challenge and spring into your weight loss goals<\/p>\n<h3>Why is Soda Addictive?<\/h3>\n<p>1.\u00a0 Caffeine \u2013 the caffeine found in soda makes you feel cravings for more of it.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0 High Fructose Corn Syrup or Sugar \u2013 these sweeteners make you want to have more and more soda, which results in making you gain weight<\/p>\n<p>I was completely shocked when Dr Oz showed that Dr Mike Roizen is also addicted to diet soda\u2026 in fact, Dr. Roizen \u201cThe Enforcer\u201d drank 7 diet sodas in the video at the Cleveland Clinic that Dr Oz showed.<\/p>\n<h4>Dr Oz\u2019s Weight Loss Challenge: Soda<\/h4>\n<p><strong><em>Week 1 \u2013 Sugar Free<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the first week, you should exchange your usual sugary soda for diet soda.\u00a0 This will help you to break one addiction.\u00a0 You should also try to eat lots of fish, eggs and beans this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Week 2 \u2013 Caffeine Free<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Week 2 you should drink only caffeine free diet soda.\u00a0 When you get headaches, take ibuprofen.\u00a0 Also, eat vitamin b rich foods like spinach, chick peas and vitamin-enriched cereals.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Week 3 \u2013 Reduce Consumption by 50%<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Week 3 you should cut down on the amount of soda you drink so that you are only drinking half of what you used to drink.\u00a0 The remaining 50% of the time, drink a glass of 80% seltzer water and 20% cranberry juice (or whatever juice you like).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Week 4 \u2013 Eliminate Soda<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Week 4 you should cut out all the soda altogether.\u00a0 If you want, you can chew gum instead.\u00a0 And with the money you save this week, around $10, you can buy yourself a little present (just not soda!).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are 39.5 grams of sugar in a 12oz can of Coke and 39.5 grams of sugar is equivalent to 20 cubes of sugar.
