The Vitamix Turboblend was a gift to my daughter and son in law, as part of their wedding gift. They use it daily and are in awe of it. They made smooties the most, different ones every single day. They now eat more fruits and vegetables then ever before. My son in law has taken pictures and wrote on his site about "Bob", that's his nick name for the machine. They love it, and it works wonderfully. They've had it for about 3 months.
My neighbors have one, and they've made nut butters for me, which you can't do with a standard blender. My old blender recently bit the dust, so I needed a replacement quickly. I checked out the Cuisinart and KitchenAid models elsewhere online, and I read quite a few reviews, especially the one-star and two-star comments. I wanted to know what people didn't like, or what quality issues might be worth noting. Obviously Cuisinart and KitchenAid sell thousands of blenders to thousands of happy people, but I didn't like reading about leaking jars, motor problems, and returns.
I decided to go ahead and spring for a VitaMix, and I saw that this newer model was available. It's a very powerful machine, it has a new lid on the jar which fits better. It's not as noisy as my last blender,. The only thing I might criticize is the recipe book that comes with it — it's focused on fruity, sweet drinks. They don't tell you that you can puree roasted eggplant to add to chicken stock for soup, you can make superb pasta sauces, pestos, and savory dips. This is a tool for people who like to cook and make things with fresh ingredients. If your needs are very basic, like a morning smoothie, you may not need this much power.

My wife and I love preparing fruit smoothies, usually combining frozen fruit AND ice cubes. The cheaper blenders we've used simply wouldn't handle the strain of two or more smoothies a day. We've wanted a Vitamix for some time, but struggled with the high price. Would it really be worth $400? We finally took the plunge, and found it is even better than we thought it would be. Not only will it make frozen fruit/ice smoothies with ease, but it will also make hot soup and a host of other menu items. When others say, "It isn't a blender, it's a Vitamix" it is more than a catchy slogan. This machine is certainly a blender, but it is much more than a blender. It's a food processor, but it's more than a food processor. It's a Vitamix.
We're sold on this product, and there's no looking back. There will certainly won't be a need for another "cheap" blender, since everything is covered on the Vitamix by a 7-year warranty.
I love my new vitamix. It is easy to clean and is soooooo versitile. I make nut butters, grind wheat for whole grain everything, and green smoothies every day. I am soooooo happy to have my Vitamix! I never knew what I was missing. I used to roll my eyes at those crazy people and now I am one of them. If your hesitant because of the price. It is soooo worth it. I hardly use any other gadgets anymore. Less clutter in the kitchen and healthy healthy living what else can one ask for!.
