Tip 1: Ditch the Salt

Too much sodium leads to fluid retention, which causes bloat.ย In fact, salt-related bloat can make you look up to nine pounds heavier than you are. Avoid processed foods and stick to home-made meals where you control the salt levels.

Tip 2: Choose Water over Fizzy Drinks

The air in carbonated drinks can easily become trapped in your stomach, causing uncomfortable and unsightly bloating. Take a break from them and drink pure water. Add lemon, sliced cucumbers or mint if you need flavor.

Tip 3: Eat Your Fiber

Constipation also causes bloat. You may not even be aware that you’re constipated. Eat foods high in fiber such as leafy greens, broccoli, oranges, berries and bran. Match your consumption to the daily recommended amounts, though, as eating too much fiber can also result in bloating, as well as diarrhea and stomach pain.

Tip 4: Skip the Alcohol

Alcohol is a diuretic, meaning it flushes water out of your body. Losing too much water causes your body to react by retaining whatever water it can, which leads to bloating.ย In addition, alcohol is loaded with sugar, which is disastrous for your waistline, not to mention your health.

Tip 6: Take Your Time

Don’t rush your meals. Eating too quickly can cause you to take in more calories than you meant to. Pace yourself. A meal should take 30 minutes to eat. Not only will you enjoy your food more, but you’ll give your body time to tell you when it’s full.

Remember that what you wear has a big impact on how slim you look. Clothing that is too tight can actually make you look bigger than you are, and clothing that’s too loose isn’t flattering. Following all of these tips will ensure that you look as trim as possible when your big day comes!
