Mistakes Preventing you From Losing Weight

Reason you Not Losing Weight

If you have a weight loss goal, it’s important to get educated about food and exercise. There are no shortcuts to weight loss. Here are mistakes that you might be making that are keeping you from losing weight.

For mistakes that are keeping you from losing weight

When your trying to lose weight, you need to create new lifestyle habits with a weight loss plan. If you make temporary changes and go back to your old ways, you will inevitably put the weight back on. Weight loss that lasts requires education and lifestyle changes. Here are four things you might be doing that are keeping you from losing weight.

You portion incorrectly

Overeating is one of the most common ways to keep you from losing weight. If you never learned proper proportions, you probably eat more than the recommended amounts of certain food groups and not enough of others. One portion of meat is only the size of a deck of cards. That may seem small in comparison to what you’re currently used to eating, but by changing your eating habits sticking to a proper proportion, you will begin to lose weight. If you fill half of your plate with fruits and veggies, you will save yourself calories. When you learn proper proportions, you will make meals using less food then you probably did before. This will not only keep you from going for the second or third, but will also save you money.

You hit the gym, but still he poorly

Going to the gym is a good step towards losing weight and getting into shape, but if you continue to eat poorly, you won’t see the results you want. Going to the gym isn’t a free pass to eat fast food for lunch every day. There are more calories in a fast food meal then you are likely burning at the gym. If you want to lose weight, tone up, and be healthy, you have to be active. This doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a treat now and then. Regularly eating poorly even if you worked out regularly will definitely keep you from losing weight the way you want to.

You don’t get enough sleep

Sleep helps you to lose weight in a variety of ways. If you’re awake most of the night, you give yourself more of an opportunity to snack and consume unwanted calories. Late-night cravings probably have you reaching for snacks that you rather not have if you’re looking to lose weight. Sleeping less than seven hours a night can lead to weight gain and make it more difficult to shed those extra pounds. Being sleep deprived contributes to make poor choices, including food choices.

You don’t pay attention to food labels

Reading the label of the package foods you buy is important to your overall health, but especially if you’re attempting to lose weight. Food labels will tell you how much is considered one portion and how many calories are in a portion. If you buy a package of cookies, a can of soup, or even a bag of trail mix, you should make it a habit to read the label before you take. You might be surprised at how many calories are in two cookies when you usually eat four or five. By not reading labels and being aware of what you’re consuming you may find that you’re not losing weight the way you hoped. If you assume you can eat more because a food is low in fat and calories and avoid to dig deeper into the label, you may actually be consuming more than you think.

Successful weight loss isn’t something that happens quickly. When you lose weight quickly and revert back to old habits, you will put the weight back on. This cycle will make it more difficult to lose weight over time. Losing weight and keeping it off isn’t easy in the beginning, but with the right habit changes you can get.
